Unstoppable’ is Dan Freedman’s new young adult novel. He is best known for his popular Jamie Johnson football series. This time, Dan brings together the worlds of football and tennis to tell the narrative of twins Kaine and Roxy, who are at odds on their path to becoming sporting superstars.
Roxy is working her way up to Wimbledon, but she is feeling stifled by her father’s excessive encouragement. Kaine, on the other hand, aspires to play in England’s top flight. Kaine seeks affirmation elsewhere after feeling neglected by his parents and resenting Roxy’s support, which sets off a chain of events for the Campbell family.
Dan throws in twists and turns just when you think you know where the story is going, making ‘Unstoppable’ a beautifully compelling yet harsh thriller. Gang culture, rivalry, peer pressure, coming of age, death, expectations, and more are among the numerous themes explored. Dan doesn’t shy away from discussing themes that are common in today’s culture, despite the fact that it is a YA fiction.
